Now we’ve seen some pretty ballsy interactions with top predators, but this one has got to take the cake.

Ocean Ramsey is an avid ocean conservationist who’s swimming with sharks to raise awareness and change attitudes about these vilified sea-faring creatures.

She’s also smokin’ hot, which obviously isn’t the most important thing here, but still, damn.

Check out this incredible video of Ramsey chillin’ with one of the ocean’s most feared predators: a Great White.

RYOT NOTE from Ben

Ocean Ramsey is braving dangerous waters for a reason. 100 percent of the proceeds from images — like the ones above — taken for her organization, Water Inspired are given to education efforts for ocean ecology and sharks. Also interesting to note that she is free diving.  Is her name really Ocean?

Oh come one now, stop being so sensitive! She IS amazingly brave, and she IS smokin' hot!  Facts are facts!

??????? Woah, RYOT, slow down there. Who posted this ridiculous article? The title is incredibly offensive. Does the fact that she is "smokin' hot" make her story more interesting or in any way change the facts of the article? I'm sure that she would want her incredible work judged on its own merit and not by the fact that she is a hot blonde. Is she gorgeous? Yeah. Is that the point? No way. Thanks for adding to the culture of beauty that demeans women and weighs their value and significance with their physical appearance.  By titling this post the way you have, you have played right into the problem. You need to reword the article's title. Seriously. I read RYOT all the time, and for the fresh, relevant view on news you want to take for this generation, you really need to omit crap like this. Be different! For the love of God!

@PatriceScheiner  Yes on both counts - the girl is strikingly brave and beautiful. But if she wasn't, you wouldn't title the post "Meet Ocean Ramsey the 'Shark Whisperer' (Who Also Happens to be Ugly)" The MOST important point to be made here is that title implies that women of science, bravery, etc are usually not attractive. It is worded in a way that tells us it is actually surprising that she is smokin' hot. The same would go for a fighter pilot, fire woman, or astronaut. And I think her name really is Ocean. Beautiful!

@asandvos  Yea I think the fact she's smoking hot does make it more interesting. Instead of pursuing a fickle career in modeling (which she clearly easily could) she's choosing to do something more meaningful.  Some guys are extra attracted to beautiful girls that use their brains not just their looks, the writer is clearly taken by this woman's beauty and adventurous nature. Get over it.

I'm also not surprised that this article was contributed by a man.

@asandvos @PatriceScheiner Most people are not smoking hot.

Everyone enjoys beauty.

Therefore the people who are beautiful/hot, will end up getting attention. The circumstances are irrelevant.

Get over it ;)

@JuliaPiyay @asandvos  Does that mean that the same work of a woman with average beauty or "less" would be less interesting? Or that a very attractive woman in a modeling career is less worthy of respect and admiration? I'm sure you don't think that. It is really important for the media to base the worth of women on who they are and what they do - not what they happen to look like or what society says makes women worth talking about. It is the same reason women on the red carpet don't want to be asked about their dating lives or the dress they are wearing. They want to be recognized for their work. I am 100% positive that the author of this article was not intentionally offensive, but this is a very active and controversial conversation happening in the news and media industry right now and I am really disappointed that RYOT does not hold a higher standard in this area. Or maybe they do and the editor of this article let it slip through the cracks. Like all opinions, not everyone holds mine, and not all women are concerned with this topic. But it is an important topic to many men and women and I think RYOT deserves to hear from them if they really want to make a difference, which is the whole premise of their site and their work.

@zapprowsdower Beauty is in the eye of the beholder what you may call beautiful may not be what others see as beauty. Nothing to get over. Enjoy your day;)

@asandvos Completely agree with you beautiful women deserve to be recognised for more than their looks also their worth.  @JuliaPiyay I think you miss the point. This has nothing to do with jealousy it has to do with respect. You can make a point without being rude and please allow others to have an opinion. Thank-you.
