Leanne Hecht Bearden spent 22 months traveling the world with her husband, only to return stateside and die unexpectedly near a home in central Texas.
According to CNN, authorities announced that a body, believed to be 33-year-old Bearden, was discovered in the same city she was last seen in on January 17.
Bearden left her in-laws’ home to go on a one-hour walk that turned into her missing for a month.
A man called police Thursday afternoon reporting a body in a wooded are near his home in Garden Ridge.
Responding officers state that they “located what we believe to be the body of Leanna Bearden.”
“We will reserve an information regarding the cause of death until an autopsy has been performed. Our thoughts are with the Bearden and Hecht families and (we) ask that you respect them in their time of grief,” police Chief Donna O’Conner said.
CNN reports that her death was publicly acknowledged on a Facebook page her family created when searching for her, “Leanne was a lovely and remarkable young woman and we will all miss her greatly.”
Bearden and her husband recorded their travels in a blog, but her family says her transition back into American society was not an easy one.
They suggest that she may not have been completely herself during the time of her disappearance.
