Top Gear’s Richard Hammond Grants Wheelchair-bound Girl’s Improbable Wish — and It’s a Tear-Jerker

Emilia Palmer, an 8-year-old from Kimbolton, England, suffers from a serious lung condition that forces her to remain confined to a wheelchair, but that hasn’t stopped her from dreaming big.

The Rays of Sunshine charity was determined to make Emilia’s dream come true. Her one wish?

This little “speed-lover” wanted a ride in a hot pink Lamborghini.

A Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, to be exact.

Rays of Sunshine wasted no time — procuring a brand new Lambo, painting it the most vibrant pink and enlisting Top Gear‘s Richard Hammond to act as chauffeur on Emilia’s ride of a lifetime.

Hammond used his personal helicopter to fly this pink, dream-machine to Emilia’s house and proceeded to bond with his co-pilot, telling Hereford Times, “There was every chance she could have been shy, but she chatted non-stop. It is truly inspiring how brave people are — an inspiring, positive, unique and uplifting occasion.”

Emilia will never forget her pink ride, her mom claims, saying, “Emilia had an incredible time… This was a fantastic day that we will all remember as a family.”

RYOT NOTE: Rays of Sunshine not only granted Emilia’s wish, they’ve granted over 3,000 wishes for seriously or terminally ill children. Their focus is taking a wish and turning it into a happy memory, giving the child and their family an unforgettable experience, and break from their daily routine of medication and hospital appointments.
